Solution Heat Treatment

Solution heat treatment is performed at temperatures between 450°C and 550°C and represents a crucial phase in the processing of aluminum alloys. Its primary goal is to dissolve the alloying elements present in the material, homogenizing its structure and preparing it for subsequent hardening stages. Once the correct temperature is reached and maintained for the required time, the part is rapidly cooled—a process known as quenching—which “freezes” the achieved condition and traps the elements in solid solution.

This step is essential for obtaining high and consistent mechanical properties such as strength, hardness, and toughness. MGT uses dedicated and carefully controlled pit furnaces to ensure maximum uniformity throughout the thermal cycle. Thanks to decades of experience, solution heat treatment is carried out in full compliance with the required technical parameters, ensuring reliable and repeatable results.
